Is Nate ready? Am really hoping they give him a shot. Seems he was working hard in winter ball. Let's see if wearing batting gloves bring some magic.
Can Velez handle the wall and wind? The idea of Rowand and his microscopic OBP leading off still sounds desperate, regardless of how well he hit there last year. A stagnating product of the steroid generation, he is a great team guy, but a very average CF, at best, otherwise. Unfortunately, Velez' OBP (.308) was even worse. I think Velez' plate coverage will continue to improve, now can he learn to be patient? (16 walks in 285 ABs)
Torres had the 3rd best OBP last year plus some pop. Love his hustle. Hope they take a long look in spring.
Fred Lewis had the 2nd best OBP last year, but that glove. Oh, that swiss cheese glove. Bye Fred.
