I actually like the direction the team has taken post-Bonds. Plus, I think ownership will still look at Sabean as being better than the other options out there.

This isn't a terribly popular position, and I don't want to be an apologist, but I think there is a lot of truth to the idea that his hands have been tied by Bonds and Magowan.

Give him a couple more years... with the decent budget this team can put forth, we should be able to sign some good players and surround them with guys coming up through our system. You look at the Angels and it seems clear that is the best way to be successful. Too bad about Zito.
