for a guy who has been pretty awful offensively for 2 consecutive years, he received a pretty nice contract extension last year and more playing time than his performance has really warranted. he still gets cheered by the fans despite his struggles and the team went to a lot of trouble for the celebration of his SS games record. what more could he want?

i would like to enjoy a winning ballclub sooner than later, and it's about time the team fully embraced their commitment toward that goal. playing and evaluating your young players has nothing to do with "disrespect" for older guys, it's a necessary step in the process of rebuilding and getting this team back on the right track. i would hope that they would respect the fans and do what's right to start getting this thing fixed.
