San Francisco - I see ESPN's Buster Olney is reporting the Ray Durham deal is done, though he gives none of the particulars of who is going to the Giants.
I'll be interested to see if it is just Durham and not also lefty reliever Jack Taschner, because I know Class A Brevard County centerfielder Darren Ford and Class AAA Nashville lefty Steve Hammond have been told they're in the deal. Would the Brewers have to give up Ford and Hammond, even though they aren't top prospects, for a 36-year-old backup infielder who has more than $3 million left on his contract? That's questionable to me.
Plus, a Giants reporter just told me that the team has summoned a left-handed reliever from the minors today. You have to wonder if that pitcher is a replacement for Taschner.
So, we know the Brewers are getting Durham, as we have been reporting since last night. Now, we'll see if that's all they're getting.
At least it'll be easy for Durham to join the team. He can jump right on the charter flight with the Brewers this evening to St. Louis
