Smart move because the players wouldn't have voted Cook in. 11-6 and a 3.66 ERA is good enough to qualify. Is he more deserving of Lincecum not being picked by the mgr? nope.

However, we know how the all-star game works. When you are the mgr, you get to pick your own guys if you can.
