i think it's been pretty clearly explained how increased velocity impacts the effectiveness of secondary pitches, his confidence and ability to throw strikes and miss bats at a higher frequency.

i'v never said that command wasn't important- you just don't seem to want to acknowledge the effect that having a half-way decent fastball has on your entire arsenal.

just walking out on the field with better stuff doesn't mean you are going to pitch well. he still hasn't been consistent from start to start, but the tools have improved and we are starting to see some positive results.
