He finally had command of all of his pitches, and that makes all the difference in the world. He mixed speeds, like always, but was able to locate the ball on the edges of the plate with his fastball, changeup, curve and slider. He struck out 10 while throwing only one pitch (that I noticed) faster than 88mph on the gun (a gun that Krukow believes is a little hot). While he may or may not repeat this success, I still feel it shows that command of his arsenal is more important to his game than 3-4mph on his fastball.

Zito was dominant after the first inning today, and really enjoyable to watch. I hope the rest of you had the chance to watch, and I really hope he has turned the corner and can come close to repeating this outing.
