Likely to be in there in 3 years:
Noonan 2b
Rowand Cf
Villalona 1b
Posey C
Shierholtz Rf
Good chance:
Lewis Lf
Gillaspie 3b
Not really sure if they fit:
Burriss or Crawford at SS? Can either stick at short?
Kieschnick may be in the outfielf, but he needs to fix that swing.
Velez might be a utility guy.
Sandoval? Love the bat, not sure where he fits into the longterm plans. Backup?
I think Fairly has potential, but I see him as more than 3 years off.
So, my best guess at a lineup:
- Burriss SS (I'll take him over Crawford just because I can have him as leadoff hitter and I'm not sure who else I'd put here)
- Noonan 2b
- Rowand Cf(might not be playing center anymore in 3 years, but we'll see)
- Villalona 1b (might be pressing his scheduled arrival a bit to have him at 4)
- Posey C
- Lewis Lf
- Schierholtz Rf
- Gillaspie 3b (might be better than an 8th place hitter)
- Pitcher
Pen: Alderson, Merkin, Hinshaw, Sadler, Romo
hard to say with the Pen. I'm not sure who will stick in the rotation between MadBum, Sanchez, and Alderson. MadBum maybe has the most upside, but Sanchez is more of a sure thing at this point, and Alderson might stick b/c Sanchez and Madbum are both lefties.
Of course, this won't end up being close. We'll have trades... Wilson and Lowry kind of just disappeared with this. Did we get anything for them?
I don't know... looks like an exciting team if things develop right. A big question in my mind is where the lead off hitter comes from. Maybe Lewis? He has a pretty good OBP and good speed. I don't think he's ideal though. Burriss is way to raw to know if he can stick there... he's a bit of a weak hitter for my taste, but that might change.
